Halloween Wedding Ideas

5th October 2020

With October being a big month for Halloween weddings, it seemed only right to dedicate this month’s blog to them and give you some tips and ideas.  Being a 900-year-old Norman Church The Lost Village of Dode lends itself as the perfect Halloween setting.

Alternative Wedding Attire

When it comes to your wedding attire you can play with deep colours and embellishments for a moody, gothic feel. Simple accents can help turn a dress from ordinary to Halloween worthy. A black wedding veil and a pair of gloves could really set your look off.

For suits why not add a cravat or tie with Halloween details along with some cufflinks to give a real accent of Halloween.

Make-up

If your wedding is not full-blown Halloween, you probably will want to look like yourself more.  You could however experiment with a smokey eye or a deep lip colour to keep with the theme.

Flowers

Think deep rich, vibrant autumnal colours for bridal flowers and corsages. For the entrance to Dode why not get the bridal party to cut out pumpkins, and then fill them with flowers. Doesn’t the below image by Unique Image Photography (www.uniqueimagephotography.co.uk) set the scene for your guests when they enter?

Decorations and Style Inspiration

From coffins and pumpkins that add a splash of colour to cobwebs and skulls, there are lots of ideas that you can use for your wedding decoration.  You could even try layering your tables with all things Halloween, incorporating them all in a similar colour.

Lighting and candles can add a real ambience with candelabras adding a gothic, vintage feel whilst looking timeless in photos.

Smaller details such as spiders in flowers and dogs with themed collars can really bring all your decoration together.

Drinks

Everyone loves a reception drink after your ceremony.  Our friends at The Double Bubble Bar (http://www.doublebubblebar.com) can create a signature Halloween wedding drink for your guests to enjoy.

Favours

If you decide to have place names, or even favours you could incorporate them together, such as having a themed biscuit with the guests’ name on or a mini pumpkin with the guests’ name on.  A lovely keepsake for your guests to take home.

‘Trick or Treat’ Sweet Table

To keep the little ones (and the big ones!) entertained a ‘trick or treat’ sweet table with gory cakes and freaky sweets will keep your guests’ sugar levels up and also compliments your wedding theme.

We hope that you have enjoyed our little insight into Halloween weddings.  For any questions please do not hesitate to contact us, we would be delighted to hear from you.
