Behind the scenes at Dode with Graham

14th April 2021

Behind every unique and special wedding are helping hands. Dode is very lucky to have Doug and Mary, along with Becky and Graham, to ensure your wedding day goes without a hitch. On your wedding day itself, Graham works tirelessly behind the scenes ensuring everything in the church is perfect for you. If you need anything on the day Graham is your right-hand man.

Our wonderful couples always hold him in high regard with comments like “Our day was run so smoothly by Graham who introduced himself to us in the morning, made sure we were put at ease and everything was in place for our guests. He has a great character and clicked very quickly with us all, being around when you need him but making it feel like we had the place all to ourselves to celebrate with our loved ones. Even going so far as to help collect all of our belongings strewn about and lock up the cottage following the last-minute madness before the ceremony!”

Dode is a special venue, can you tell us what a wedding day at Dode is like for you?

All weddings are special for the couple, family, friends and guests. As the event host I am at Dode right from the start and have been very lucky to be accepted by our guests whilst looking after them which is a total privilege.

How long have you been working at Dode, and how did you get into events?

I have been with Dode for seven years. Previously I was an instructor at Brands Hatch rally school and was asked to stand in for an event presenter, from then on for seven years doing much the same at a kart circuit. Then after a health problem I met Doug and here I am.

Do you have a favourite feature at Dode?

Not really a feature, but the look of amasement and joy of our guests when they enter Dode must be the favorite thing.

Dode is very special for everyone who visits, are you able to describe why?

The location, building, history and of course the occasions at Dode that they are attending just totals up to a special venue

What is your favourite memory during your time at Dode?

Ah. It is impossible to single out one memory so so many. New friends made but just a totally enjoyable time there. Also working with a great team.

The Lost Village of Dode is a tranquil wedding venue in the heart of the Kent countryside, licensed for 42 guests for a ceremony. Inside the Church, you can choose from an intimate indoor Civil Ceremony or Renewal of Vows. Outdoors you can have a Blessing or Pagan Handfasting Ceremony, which you can hold within the ancient Stone Circle. All ceremonies can be followed by a Wedding Reception, with dancing and overnight stay onsite; in one of the two superb award-winning cottages.
