21st August 2019

Entertaining your guests is a really important part of your wedding day! Every bride and groom wants their guests to leave happy, with full bellies and lots of amazing memories and our top 20 picks of fun and quirky entertainment will help you do just that. Oh, and they are in no particular order, that would have been far too hard to decide…

  1. Photobooth – these come in all shapes and sizes nowadays. Whether you create a DIY one, have a booth set up or even a converted campervan (super cool) these are great fun for your guests and lots of photos to look back on afterwards! Locate to Create have some awesome props and backdrops to help you create one if this is something you fancy and Matt James Photography can supply a great self contained photobooth.
  2. Magician – who doesn’t love a magician? Ideal for entertaining the younger guests during the wedding breakfast or perfect for working the room with card tricks during drinks. We personally recommend Paul Fowler Magic….absolutely amazing.
  3. Glitter Bar – festival style weddings and glitter bars go hand in hand, but let’s be honest, glitter is good at any wedding right? You could co-ordinate the colours to your theme or just go for every colour in the rainbow and if you are conscious of the environment like we are you can even opt for biodegradable glitter.
  4. Caricaturist – not only is this great entertainment for your guests, but it’s a favour for them to take home too. We can guarantee you they’ll all have their drawings displayed in their homes, a great little reminder of your big day.
  5. Butterfly Release – a bit like a dove release, but on a slightly smaller scale, but still super beautiful and inexpensive.
  6. Croquet – a classic garden game that everyone can enjoy! Easy to setup and you can se it afterwards.
  7. Giant Jenga – lots of our brides and grooms have chosen to have giant Jenga at Dode, the vintage garden games work perfectly in our gorgeous setting!
  8. Birds of Prey – we love birds of prey here at Dode and Ollie the Owl from Nuptu Owls is a regular at our weddings. He is a fully fledged ring bearer if you fancy it and gives the real WOW factor to your wedding ceremony and another awesome photo opportunity.
  9. Bouncy Castle – you can’t go wrong with a bouncy castle. This is a great way to keep the kids entertained and if you get a big enough one there is no reason why the adults can’t have a bounce too!
  10. Carnival Games – they suit our setting so well and give great entertainment to guests of all ages. We can’t recommend Vintage Carnival Games enough, they have supplied so many of our weddings at Dode and never disappoint.
  11. Gin Bar – one of the trendiest tipples right now, gin bars have been popping up left right and centre, so why not have one at your BIG day. There are so many fun flavours to choose from and you could either create a DIY one yourself or hire one in, there are lots of really cool ones around!
  12. Silent Disco – Worried about there not being enough variety in the music and want to have music without the noise then why not consider a silent disco. They often allow your guests to pick from a few channels, so can appeal to everyone and no issues with the music being too loud, they are lots of fun too!!!
  13. Welly Hurling – When you’re tying the knot in a rural area it’s fun to embrace the countryside setting and welly hurling is always a fun one to do and trust us it can get very competitive…
  14. Pimp Your Prosecco – there is only one thing better than prosecco and that prosecco with an extra special twist! Pimping prosecco has become super popular and you really can go to town on it. You can get glitter for drinks, popping candy, fruit, sweeties, you name it, we guarantee you’ll guests will have lots of fun doing this. You could create a DIY one yourself or we are sure the Double Bubble Prosecco Van could help!
  15. Space Hoppers – you might think we have gone a little crazy with this one, but trust us! Purchase a few space hoppers, you know the inflatable balls with antennas to hold on to, and watch the craziness unfold, there is so much fun to be had on these bouncy balls of fun and why not let your smaller guests take them home afterwards.
  16. Sack Racing – it might be advisable to do this before everyone’s drunk too much, we don’t want any injuries, but this is seriously fun, you can even get adult sized hessian bags, so everyone can get involved.
  17. Pinata – if you haven’t had a pinata at a party before you’re missing out! You could match it to your wedding theme and fill it with lots of goodies. It makes for some really good photos too…
  18. Singing Waiters – This is so much fun and will be a real talking point for all of your guests. Go have a look on YouTube and we defy you not to want them! One minute they’re serving canapes, the next they’re belting out a ballad!
  19. Balloon Artists – This is definitely one for the little people at the wedding, they will love watching them being made and will LOVE playing with them after!
  20. Face Painting – Another one for little guests, although if you combined with a glitter bar we can guarantee you all the guests would be getting involved. Create a dedicated area to amuse the kids. Just make sure they know not to wipe their faces on anyone’s outfits, especially not the brides dress!!!

Hopefully this has given you lots of food for thought and some fun ideas to entertain your guests and most importantly yourselves…remember go for the things you love and that you’ll enjoy and most importantly the things that will create memories to last forever!
