This blog gives an insight into weddings at The Lost Village of Dode, and has important information to think about with your wedding. We hope you enjoy reading, and remember we are here to help you, please contact us with any questions or to arrange a personal viewing.

Ceremony

The Lost Village of Dode a licensed wedding venue, enabling you to get married in a quaint, lovingly preserved, medieval former church but, and importantly, it enables you to book a non-religious civil ceremony or partnership followed by your wedding reception and drinks in a church.

The interior is atmospherically illuminated with flickering torches. Flanking the central walkway to the nave there are carved oak wooden benches, covered with warming rugs, on which your guests sit during the ceremony that then become the seating during your ‘medieval’ wedding breakfast after which you can end the evening with dancing and much merriment.

A rehearsal of your ceremony either within the Norman Church, or amongst the Ancient Stones is part of your wedding. We believe this is a really important aspect of our wedding package, special to the Lost Village of Dode, and ensures your day goes to plan.

After booking your Civil ceremony we at The Lost Village of Dode will organise your paperwork with the registration department once your booking is formally complete, therefore removing any unnecessary hassle from the planning of your big day.

For a civil ceremony you will need to think about your music, we have an in-house sound system available for you to use.  We suggest music for when the guests take their seats, 1 track for your entrance, 3 for signing the registrar and 1 for your exit as a married couple!

Car parking

We are very fortunate to have free parking for up to 10 bridal party cars available for you to use.

Beverages

After your ceremony guests can spend time enjoying the stunning grounds, enabling you to have your group photos and enjoy a glass of bubbly along with a selection of canapés.

For your drinks reception we ask you to work directly with our Friends of Dode; Double Bubble Van, who can provide either a converted bike or camper van to serve your drinks. They have a wide selection of drinks available to suit all tastes.

Wedding Breakfast

During your drinks reception we set up for your medieval style banquet wedding breakfast reception with all the trimmings. Your wedding breakfast could include a hog roast, or a roast lamb, we just ask that you work directly with our caterers Flying Pig Kitchen. Another option is an afternoon tea from The Pretty Little Tea Company.
